Why does every election day find me calling total strangers to try to influence their vote toward the candidate of my allegiance? I hate doing that. Campaigning can be a very thankless job, as I have learned personally. It's a heartless game where you win only enough to get the taste for it and the rest of the time you lose cruelly. I could've written something very poignant last night about doing the best you can and then accepting that the rest is out of your hands as you wait to see if your efforts paid off. I could've written that if I wasn't so busy calling strangers. Funny how last year I was swearing off politics for good and the feeling of victory last night made all the difference.
